Was amazed when I heard you had sailed some (?most) of that last leg. Is that why the route goes a little zigzaggy? Were you 'tacking' (conjures up alarming memories of crossing over that time back from Rotterdam!🤢🤮🤮to the nth degree!
Yes, and it was nearly as arduous as that Rotterdam crossing, my automatic tiller pilot went on the blink, that's £500 and it's only 18 months old. My bow spent so much time buried in waves that my nav lights packed up. I can't blame the forecast, it was spot on, it just didn't account for my wishful thinking that it might not be so bad.
The island of Berlenga. Photo taken from Peniche lighthouse. Apparently there is a beautiful anchorage on this island, I wish I had time to explore. Peniche is also a very nice place and I would like to stay longer (not least because the monthly rate works out at 5 euros per night and that includes electricity). But I have early morning flights to get from Lisbon and the bus service from here doesn't leave early enough. I have to leave tomorrow, it's the only favourable day on the forecast.
That is going to be one delicious sleep....
