Saturday 18th November. Leixoes, Porto.

All of these Atlantic ports close whenever there is any swell which there nearly always is so it looks like I'll be here until Thursday. But the forecast is good and there are worse places to be than Porto.

    Hopefully there will be a bar in Porto without cakes in the window. When is your next trip to see Margaux?

      I wrote damning reports on the bar situation last night and deleted them this morning. It's not good, I eventually did find a bar nearby and had a couple then it shut. 8pm on a Saturday and it shut!
      There are bars in the city centre of course but that's an hour away on public transport and I don't trust my bladder.

      I'm off to Zurich for a few days in a couple of weeks, flying from Lisbon so I want to get closer to there if I can.

Friday 24th November. Peniche.

The island of Berlenga. Photo taken from Peniche lighthouse. Apparently there is a beautiful anchorage on this island, I wish I had time to explore. Peniche is also a very nice place and I would like to stay longer (not least because the monthly rate works out at 5 euros per night and that includes electricity). But I have early morning flights to get from Lisbon and the bus service from here doesn't leave early enough. I have to leave tomorrow, it's the only favourable day on the forecast.
