Monday 20th November. Leixoes, Porto
I have just carried my gas bottle off to exchange for a full one. It cost 13.60 euros, that's a little more than a tenner. I don't want to go on about it but will anyway. Before I left the UK, I paid fifty quid for a refill. Something is completely bent in the UK camping Gaz supply chain.
It's a nice day, I'm going to do the tourist bit in old Porto.
Morning Brendan, did you manage to visit the bodegas? Fascinating history of port wine. Funny, but the thing I most remember was the history of cork and all its uses (not just as a bottle stopper). There are amazing plantations of ancient cork trees all over the south of Spain and Portugal and they slice the thick bark in sections to remove the cork for manufacture. This does not harm the trees. (Alcornoque in Sp.)
ReplyDeleteNo, sorry Mary, I didn't go to that side of the river just meandered around the old town.

ReplyDeleteHah! Thought for a moment that was some sort of gas depot. Funny little linkage.
